Optimum Design and Replacement Policies for k-out-of-n Systems with Deviation Time and Cost

Abstract In this paper, a new repairable k-out-of-n system contain the deviation cost is proposed. The deviation cost of system is taken into account for this paper. Firstly, the standard k-out-of-n system is replaced preventively at planned time or failure. Next, the system is replaced preventively at period time or failure. Thirdly, replacement policies are planned preventively at planned time when k is a random number. The cost rate function and its optimal replacement policy are derived analytically. The analytical discussions of replacement policies for each model and illustrate the numerical examples when the failure time has an exponential distribution.
