Abstract Welded structure of Box girder is widely used in construction machines and bridges and other fields, the welding quality directly affects the safety performance of the equipment. In this paper, the box structure of the crane boom is taken as an example, the modeling method is proposed based on ANSYS software platform, it can simulate numerically the process of nonlinear transient heat conduction of welding temperature field. Applying the orthogonal test method of optimization design, the L9(34) orthogonal table is chosen as the experimental implementation scheme, the welding speed, welding current and welding voltage are taken as orthogonal design factors by using 3 values for each factor as level. Through the Combination of orthogonal test scheme and finite element analysis of nonlinear transient heat conduction of welded structures, the optimal welding parameters of the box girder flanges of crane boom are determined. The simulation method is very useful for determining the welding process parameters reasonably for obtaining high welding quality.
