Abstract | An adaptive conservation element and solution element (adaptive-CESE) method based on an adaptive mesh redistribution (AMR) technique is proposed for solving onedimensional shock tube problems. The proposed method combines the original stationary CESE scheme with an interpolation-free moving mesh method. Importantly, the proposed scheme retains all the advantageous properties of the original CESE scheme. The feasibility of the proposed method is demonstrated by solving the one-dimensional classic shock tube problem. The results show that the resolution of the adaptive-CESE scheme on a coarse mesh is equivalent to that of the original CESE scheme on a fine mesh.
