Abstract This study adopts the loss-based Six Sigma quality index Qpml, which fully reflects process quality level, process loss, and process yield. We apply this index to develop an assessment model for the process quality of products with multiple quality characteristics of symmetric bilateral specifications. We also construct an analysis chart to simultaneously evaluate multiple quality characteristics. In practice, Qpml must be estimated based on sample data expressed in precise values. However, sampling and measurement errors are unavoidable during random sampling and measuring. This introduces uncertainty, which increases the risk of misjudgment. In view of this, this study proposes fuzzy estimation of Qpml to reduce consumer risk and fuzzy statistical testing of Qpml to more accurately determine quality levels.
