Abstract With the development of intelligent operation and maintenance, preventive maintenance (PM) is widely applied to alleviate manufacturing system degradation and improve product quality. However, for some practical manufacturing processes, it is unrealistic to perform PM actions on manufacturing systems during job processing, especially for the job with random working time. In this paper, a joint PM and quality improvement policy with random working time is proposed for deteriorating singlemachine manufacturing systems.
