Abstract In general, systems are hierarchical, i.e., a system constitutes with subsystems, a subsystem constitutes with subsubsystems, and such hierarchical relations continue from a system to discrete parts. High reliable systems adopts redundancy structures and some systems adopt hierarchical redundant structures, i.e., both systems and subsystems adopt redundant structures. In this paper, we consider reliabilities of hierarchical redundant systems and compare them with non-hierarchical redundant systems.
