Abstract This paper studies optimal replacement times for Weibull, gamma, and normal distributions with the same mean, variance, and median. Several important properties of these distributions are discussed. Age replacement, periodic replacement, and block replacement policies are considered. Their corresponding optimal replacement times and expected cost rates are derived.
