Note on Uni-Binomial Distribution for One-Unit Redundant System

Abstract As information and technology have advanced, new systems have emerged, and most have become larger,
more complex, and more unpredictable. As one approach to treat such problems from the viewpoint of reliability, it would be possible to see them broadly as one-unit system. This paper defines theoretically a uni-binomial distribution based on a standard binomial distribution, and applies to x-out-of-1 system based on a general k-out-of-n system. Reliability, failure rate and mean of one-unit system are obtained, and their properties are investigated theoretically. As one example of maintenance models, optimal policies of age replacement for the system are computed numerically.
