Abstract A consecutive-k-out-of-n:G system consists of n components which are arranged in a line or a circle and the system works if and only if at least k consecutive components work. We once discussed maintenance policy for the consecutive-k-out-of-n:G system. Only failed components were considered to be maintained when the policies are carried out. As a result, the distributions and expected values of the number of failed components when system is failed or working at a particular time t was also evaluated. The expected cost rates were considered as the objective function to be minimized. However, the maintenance cost for the working components was assumed to be ignored and the proposed maintenance policy was ineffective in some cases. As a result, in this paper, we will improve the optimization model and verify the effectiveness of the model through numerical experiments.
