Abstract This research investigates a standby redundant system composed of two distinct types of operating components and two distinct types of standby components. All components are subject to failure, and a repairman is responsible for restoring failed components. While failed components receive basic repair, some may require advanced repair depending on the severity of the damage, safety requirements, or performance considerations. The repair times for the two types of failed components under basic and advanced repair services follow different exponential distributions. Using the Laplace transform and matrix-analytical methods, we derive the reliability function and mean time to failure (MTTF) under consideration. Finally, we perform a sensitivity analysis of system reliability and MTTF through comprehensive numerical computations to identify critical parameters that have significant impacts.
