Abstract The field of determining match schedules, match order, and allocation of sports facilities in sports competitions is referred to as sports scheduling. Round-robin league matches are sometimes conducted in sports such as soccer. This paper assumed that there are two types of teams, strong team and normal team in league matches. The number of teams is assumed to be even, and each team plays one match per period. If a team faces strong teams consecutively, the team often suffers a significant risk of fatigue and injuries in some sports. Therefore, it is desirable for each team to maximize the interval between matches against strong teams. The objective of this paper is to maximize the minimum interval between matches against strong teams by circle method, a representative method for creating match schedules.
