Abstract Stochastic software reliability modeling for improving the accuracy of software reliability assessment has been conducted so far. However, most of existing models have been developed under perfect debugging environment. Furthermore, we need to consider practical situation of the reliability assessment by considering the impact of change-point observed in the testing phase of the software development. In this paper, we develop a more realistic software reliability assessment model considering with the change of the software reliability growth process and the imperfect debugging environment by a Markov process. We also show numerical examples of software reliability assessment based on our model by using actual data.
