Abstract Aluminium alloy structures are more and more widely used in many fields such as high-speed train (HST). The high-speed train usually runs at a very high speed and the load conditions of train body are complicated. So it is necessary to study the fatigue behavior of aluminium alloy structural components of HST. In this paper, a complex structural component is studied. First, a detailed finite element analysis is done to get the stress distribution and danger point of the component, and to determine the load levels of experimental tests; second, fatigue experimental tests with six structural components are done to get the fatigue properties. This work is a basic for fatigue life prediction and reliability assessment of HST body
