Abstract This article explores how measurement systems having correlated characteristics are analyzed through studies of gage repeatability and reproducibility (GR&R). The main contribution of this research is the proposal of four new indexes for multivariate analysis of a measurement system. To prove their efficiency, the study generates simulated data with different correlation structures for measurement systems classified as acceptable, marginal, and unacceptable. The proposed indexes are compared with univariate and multivariate indexes in the literature. It was observed that, compared to the other indexes, the most efficient weighted approach in assessing a multivariate measurement system was by the explanation percentage of the eigenvalues extracted from measurement system matrix.
