Abstract We deal with random replacement policies for repairable parallel systems with n dependent or independent components. In this paper, the dependence between the components has been modeled by copula. We discuss the replacement first and last policies for a parallel system that consists of independent components and dependent components respectively. The mean cost rate is considered as an objective function to be minimized. For each policy, the optimal time that minimizes the mean cost rate is presented analytically and discussed numerically. And the effects of parameters of the model are studied.
