Abstract A consecutive-k-out-of-n:G system consists of n components which are arranged in a line or a circle and the system works if and only if at least k consecutive components work. We once discussed the periodic inspection policy for this system. Since the consecutive-k-out-of-n : G system failure occurs when the number of consecutive working components is less than k, we considered a specified condition which is between working state and failure state. We assume that all components have independent and identically exponential lifetime distribution, and inspection policy is considered under the multi-state of the system. We summarize some reliability evaluation of this consecutive-k system under the policy of inspection.

Keywords Consecutive-k system, specified condition, failure probability, expected number of failed components
